Beverley Athletic Club has shown its continued support. for the Cherry Tree Youth Hub after recently handing over a cheque for £3,000 which had been raised throughout 2025. Over the last two years, the club has supported the hub, located on Mudhills Park, which was built as part of a BBC DIY SOS project in May 2025, bringing an end to the Beverley Cherry Tree Community Centre’s long search for a youth base, having previously held sessions in a small gazebo when the COVID-19 pandemic rendered them homeless. The Hub is aimed at young. people aged between 10 and 18, and up to 25 for those with SEND and opens on evenings and weekends, as well as school holidays. Lucy Stamford and Rob Reid, of Beverley Athletic Club, visited the Hub to present the cheque to some of the youngsters and Beverley Cherry Tree Community Centre manager, Jo Ramsay. “The kindness and commitment from Beverley Athletic Club will make a real difference, helping us to continue to provide a safe space where young people can learn, make friends, build confidence, learn new skills, and take part in positive activities,” said Jo. “We are so grateful for their support and believing in the work we do.” The money will be spent on events and items the youngsters have suggested. The first event saw a group travel to trampoline park Gravity Hull, with transport provided by Beverley Community Lift, another of Beverley Athletic Club’s beneficiaries. “It was amazing to see the youth hub and the young people enjoying the space,” said a member of the Beverley Athletic Club committee. “People see Beverley as an affluent town, which it is, in places, but as in all cities and large towns, there are areas where people are struggling with the cost of living, childcare and need additional support. “Beverley Athletic Club very much enjoys supporting the young people of the Cherry Tree Centre and is hoping to do so for years to come.”
