Our Trustees

The overall responsibility of the committee and its trustees play an integral and sometimes unnoticed role in the care and social wellbeing of families in our area.

Vice Chair

I have been associated with Beverley Cherry Tree Community Centre since 2006 and was Chair of the Trustees for nine years.

I have always been very active within charities and community groups in Beverley. I volunteered at British Red Cross for several years.

My hobbies include spending time with my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, taking holidays both within the UK and further afield. I am also a regular attendee of Beverley Baptist Church. It has been a privilege to watch the Centre blossom and flourish over the years, to become the place it is today.

I have been a trustee at CTCC for approximately 8 years. My original role was as a mentor/practice assessor for social work students on placement with the Advice Centre. This setting was an excellent training ground for students, exposing them to the many complexities of the Welfare Benefits system and the problems and anxieties experienced by claimants; the experience of working in a busy team and its valued volunteers and varied opportunities to practice their communication and advocacy skills and liaise with national and local agencies.

I live in Beverley, close to Beverley Cherry Tree Community Centre and joined as a trustee three years ago after volunteering at the centre for a number of years.

I have always been passionate about volunteering and have run a successful arts and crafts group locally for a number of years. I was an active member of the Friends of St Mary’s School, organising events to raise funds for the school. I currently run a busy social community group at the centre. My hobbies include arts and crafts and spending time with family.

I grew up in Beverley attending Swinemoor primary school and Longcroft, then worked within the finance sector for a major Banking group. I moved back to Beverley after 34 years away and joined the local WI to meet new people, then set up Minster WI, supporting Beverley Cherry Tree Centre.

I became involved in the centre as a volunteer advisor and when the opportunity to become a Trustee arose recently, I jumped at the chance to become part of such a caring, passionate and giving organisation. I hope that my knowledge both in the financial sector as well as the education sector along with running a charitable organisation will be of benefit and support to the rest of the Trustees and more importantly the centre manager, staff and volunteers, without whom would not be able to run as successfully as it is on such a tight shoestring.

I am so excited to be part of the ongoing youth club project and will assist in any way I can as well as continuing to help people negotiate the benefits system.
