Beverley-based holiday home manufactured ABI Homes announced a donation of over £6,170 to support Beverley families affected by the cost-of-living crisis.

The funds were donated to the Cherry Tree Community Centre and used to buy Christmas food parcels for more than 400 families in Beverley.

The packages consisted of a whole chicken, stuffing, gravy, carrots, potatoes, sprouts as well as mince pies, Christmas pudding and custard.

For those on a low income, a crisis – be it recession, redundancy, benefit delay or an unexpected bill – can mean going hungry. In fact, nearly seven in ten people (67%) are worried about being able to afford Christmas dinner this year amid the cost-of-living crisis.

Every day in Beverley, parents skip meals to feed their children, forcing families to choose between paying the rent and eating.

Cherry Tree manager Jo Ramsay commented “We’re absolutely over the moon to support so many local families this Christmas, thanks to ABI’s generous donation.

“The work we do is critical in the community year-round, but the festive period is particularly important for us. Nobody should go hungry on Christmas day.

“The donation will go such a long way to relieve pressure during what’s expected to be a tough time.

“We are grateful to other local businesses and members of the local community whose generosity will allow us to provide additional food and Christmas treats to families in need.”
